what's playing on my car stereo

The only way I can methodically listen to music at the moment is in the car. So, I try to change the CD's as often as possible. I need to be able to get to the point where I have heard the same songs over and over and have chosen my favourite tracks from each. I have just made a new selection.

The Gospel Truth - compilation of Gospel Music
The Beatles - Rubber Soul
Take That - Beautiful World
Michael Franti and Spearhead - Yell Fire
Gossip - Standing in the Way of Control
Randy Newman - Lonely at the Top

I have a music question for you. Are snow patrol christians? i have both albums and i must admit i find God in about 95% of their tunes. I can put them on my ipod and worship but still remain quite cool. The problem with my christian music ( i love it so) is i like to play it load and when on a packed train i get stares cos probably everyone can hear the Amens and praise the lord's coming out of my ears. Snow patrol are safer. xx

You might have to ask them that question...unfortunately I am unable to look into the souls of men (or women for that matter). However, I agree they do have a certain spiritual edge to them. Some might say that is just the power of the minor chord - but I poo poo those people. Some might say that it is not possible to find God in secular music.I also poo poo these people (perhaps the same people?). I try to find God in all things and if we get close to God listening to Snow Patrol then surely this is a good thing (or at least not a bad thing). Humanity is a beautiful and despite the mess we make of stuff we are capable of great beauty ourselves. Whenever possible, whether made specifically in worship or not, it is good to give these things back to our maker. Do I sound like a trainee vicar yet????

Yeah you do!! ps. I don't think you left a link to phil jackson's blog. I have just come back from my first Alpha. It was a strange and extremely stressful night for me.Subjecting my friends to the world of nicky Gumbel is really difficult! also mixing them with my christian friends was strange. I felt awkward and uneasy. Not knowing what to say or when to say it. Purposefully backing myself down and in to a corner. Silencing my belief and nodding and being encouraging towards others. It was hard. God has brought my friends to the course for a reason, i know this and i know that it is all in his hands but i just did not expect to find it so difficult. Oh well, am involved in it now.x
