I have been interested in Labyrinths for a long time and have used the Labyrinth resources that were first used in St Pauls Cathedral in 2000. At Christ Church, Linnet Lane, Liverpool we developed our own Labyrinth for use in an installation service as part of the 'Seeing is Believing' festival in 2003. Also, at Greenbelt this year there was a Labyrinth set up. So, I thought I might have a go at using this new resource developed by the Methodist Church called Lost In Wonder. I am not realy sure what I think about it just yet but I feel it might be aimed at young people (younger than me) and at first use it didn't get my spiritual juices flowing. But I am going to go back to have other go later. Let me know what you think...

Methodist on line Labyrinth

As a methodist, I can categorically say I think its pants.
I don't get why they are spending money re-creating something which is already out there.

I do like Methodists generally though, and labyrinths.
That is a relief...cos on my return to it last night I tried very hard to have a 'good time with God' but was very distracted by it...I even tried to light a candle but my mouse wouldn't click and I got very unpset.
I like Methodists too...I married one!
You don't need to click to get the candle to light - just hold the flame over it as you would do a real wick. Sorry you don't like the site - I guess you can't please all the the people...
What's really great is that we are averaging 50 new hits a day (and growing) and that most feedback is positive, particularly from those who say that they are just about hanging on to the Church by their fingernails.
Hope it grows on you. Sorry about the voice - it's my own, I can't do a lot about it. There will soon be gentle background music, that might help.

thanks for your posted comments. I am glad that you haven't taken our comments personally (but I am sorry that we said we didn't like your voice -
in retrospect that does seem a bit mean and personal - please accept my apologies). I think music over the commentary will be a great
addition. My thoughts on the site were that it would be useful for young people and those who are struggling with conventional 'church'. Which I am starting to think might be your target users? Do you have a sense of the demographic use?
I am really pleased that you have had so many hits. I will return to the site in penitence and see if I can get the candles to light.

Im interested to know why you have done this rather than linking in to what was already out there? Why was it important to spend money on another virtual labyrinth?
hello - sorry to have been slow responding - half term and all that. I'm glad that the conversation is continuing (on Charity's blog as well). We didn't spend a lot of money setting this up - and the money we did spend is from funds set aside to specifically target the 'missing generation'.
We knew about the other on line labyrinth - but were not too worried about it. We are not in competition, just offering a different kind of space - quite deliberately set outside a church environment. The whole idea came out of the Methodist Church's Pray Without Cease project, where the Newcastle District set up a prayer labyrinth and we thought it was so good we wanted to offer it to the wider world.
